Neck Pain

Mechanical neck pain is very common with millions of people suffering with neck pain at some point in their lives. When you consider the work that the neck has to do, it is hardly surprising.

Necks often become stiff and movement can be restricted and painful. In some cases, it may cause nerve irritation and lead to arm pain, numbness or pins and needles and/or headaches. Nerve irritation can cause pain in places away from the neck. Our chiropractors are specially trained to assess your neck problem using a range of techniques including standard orthopaedic and neurological tests to arrive at the correct diagnosis.

Treatment offered by your chiropractor will be specifically tailored to you and your neck problem with the predominant aim of normalising your joint function. This can be achieved using a variety of treatment methods including chiropractic manipulation or mobilisation, medical acupuncture, soft tissue therapies (stretching, massage) and home exercises.

This effective treatment is safe and generally painless although you may feel some short-term discomfort if your neck is already sore. Although everybody responds differently, in most cases you should notice some significant improvement within a few weeks.

If improvements are not seen then further investigation, for example X-ray or scans can be arranged or onward referral to a range of consultants can be made. Periodic check-ups to maintain improvements may be of benefit in some cases.
